England Adds Denmark, Canary Islands, Maldives & Mykonos to Its Travel Corridor Exempt List

Authorities in England have decided to add to their travel corridor list Denmark, the Canary Islands, Maldives and Mykonos, after estimating that the epidemiological situation in these areas, during the past two weeks has ameliorated, the government of the United Kingdom has announced.

The decision will take effect from Sunday, October 25, according to the UK’s statement, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

“From 4 am on Sunday, October 25, passengers arriving in the UK from these destinations will no longer need to self-isolate, so long as they haven’t been in or transited through any other non-exempt countries in the 14 days preceding their arrival,” the statement reads.

England also has announced that it has removed Liechtenstein from its travel exemption list, due to a surge in the number of COVID-19 infections. Citizens of Liechtenstein seeking to enter England from October 25 will need to self-isolate for 14 days.

According to the recent data published by authorities in Liechtenstein, the weekly incidence per 100,000 marked an increase from 65.1 on October 14 to 244.9 on October 21, which equates to a 276 per cent increase.

As for the United Kingdom, it has registered over 810,400 infection cases, up to this point, while a total of 44,347 persons have died.

Since the beginning of the second wave of COVID-19 infections, on September 18, in the United Kingdom, the government registered a total of 2,191 deaths within the Kingdom, while 1,903 of them were recorded in England.

Earlier this month, England removed from its travel corridor list San Marino, Italy and the Vatican City State, after estimating that the COVID-19 infections cases in these countries were mounting.

The United Kingdom’s government also announced that it added Greece’s Island of Crete on its travel list instead.

On October 10, authorities in England removed quarantine rules for citizens wishing to enter the country after visiting Greek islands of Santorini, Serifos, Lesvos, Tinos and Zakynthos, as these zones were included in the country’s travel corridor list.
